The Edinburg Roadrunners of United League Baseball announce today they have traded outfielder Selwyn Langaigne to the Laredo Broncos (ULB) for future considerations. In addition, the Roadrunners have added pitcher Aaron Guerra, infielder Jeff Brewer and outfielder Ambiorix Concepcion to their roster for the 2010 season.
Brewer, a graduate of Stephen F. Austin, hails from Washington, Oklahoma where he was named the OSSAA McDonald’s Oklahoma All-State shortstop. At SFA, Brewer finished 10th in school history in the stolen bases category, as well as recording fourth-best season in school history during his senior campaign. He spent the 2009 season first in the Frontier League with the Windy City Thunderbolts before becoming part of the Amarillo Dillas of the ULB.
Concepcion, of Haina, Dominican Republic, spent his 2009 season in the Baltimore Orioles affiliation having played 121 games with Class AA Bowie Baysox, and 8 games with the Class AAA Norfolk Tides. He held a .251 batting average with Bowie posting eight homeruns and 54 RBI’s.
Guerra, returns to the Roadrunners after the 2009 season in which he put in 45 innings of work, compiling a 4.60 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 14 games.
The Edinburg Roadrunners will be holding tryouts at Edinburg Baseball Stadium May 19th starting at 9 a.m. with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. Cost of tryouts is $40 per person and players must supply their own equipment.
The season home-opener for Edinburg is set for May 31st at Edinburg Baseball Stadium featuring the Roadrunners and the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
The Roadrunners are members of United League Baseball, an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas that include Amarillo, Coastal Bend, Laredo, Rio Grande Valley and San Angelo.
