AMARILLO, TEXAS ---- Taylor Allen struck out a career-high 12 batters to help the Amarillo Dillas defeat the Edinburg Roadrunners 3-2 Friday night at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.
Pedro Flores (1-3) picked up the loss after he allowed three runs while scattering ten hits in seven innings of work.
The Dillas (20-16) grabbed the early 1-0 lead against Flores on a Terrance McClain RBI single in the bottom of the first inning.
Carlos Hereaud tied the game at one in the top of the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly to center field that allowed Robert Matlock to score from third. Eric Gonzalez then followed with an RBI single to right field that gave Edinburg (17-19) a 2-1 lead.
McClain drove in Keanon Simon from second base to tie the game at two in the bottom of the sixth inning with an RBI single to right center field.
Amarillo then took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning on a throwing error that allowed Eric Brown to touch home plate to make it a 3-2 game.
Allen (3-2) pitched a complete game for his third victory of the season.
The Roadrunners will travel to Laredo for a four-game series against the Broncos with game one on Saturday night at Veteran’s Field. Eric Montoya (2-1) is expected to face Gregorio Martinez (2-3) with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
The Roadrunners are members of United League Baseball, an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas that include Amarillo, Coastal Bend, Laredo, Rio Grande Valley and San Angelo.
