ROBSTOWN, Texas---The Edinburg Roadrunners posted their first win in their season-opener taking 10 innings to defeat the Coastal Bend Thunder 8-6 Thursday night at Richard M. Borchard Fairgrounds Field.
Edinburg was up 5-3 going into the fourth inning compliments of two doubles from infielder Felix Molina.
The Thunder tied things up at six in the bottom of the ninth, but Edinburg was able to post two runs in the top of the 10th. Closer Julio Castro sealed the deal with a pop-out to second and a runner at third base giving Edinburg the win in their first game of season.
The Roadrunners will face the Thunder again tomorrow, then had back to the Rio Grande Valley to take on the WhiteWings Saturday and Sunday. Starting pitcher for Edinburg tomorrow is Mark DiBernardo.
The Roadrunners are members of United League Baseball, an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas that include Amarillo, Coastal Bend, Laredo, Rio Grande Valley and San Angelo.
